Recognition of faculty members of 2 Cluster Universities
'Criteria devised to adjust old-heads, NET, SET get no point'
2/11/2018 12:24:42 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 10: The Cluster University of Jammu as well as Kashmir have devised a tailored criterion for the recognition of faculty members that only the old heads would get adjusted there whereas the young lot of newly appointed Assistant Professors would ultimately find no opportunity to serve there.
Though these two universities are still in their nascent stage but has ultimately fall in the clutches of old heads, who have been serving in these city colleges for the last many years. These teaching faculty members were part of the committee, which devised criteria for the short listing of faculty members for Cluster Universities of Jammu as well as Kashmir but this criteria is indicative of explicit interests of old people.
The newly appointed Assistant Professors said that many of the Assistant Professors, who have joined the colleges many years back, had not qualified National Eligibility Test or State Eligibility Test whereas the newly appointed APs, all have such qualification but as per the devised criteria, no point has been given to NET/SET.
They further said that as per the criteria devised by the Committee-comprised of old heads- 10 points have been attributed to College Development Activity, which was to be provided by the College Principal confidentiality. "Most of the College Committees, framed for development of the College including examination committee, NAAC committee and others all the members are old-heads whereas the newly appointed Assistant Professors are part of committees, such as college beautification, stationary committee, canteen committee, which have nothing to do with development activity", an AP said, adding that all these 10 points would go into the kitty of old heads.
"The criterion was framed by the committee of old-heads and they have benefiting their counterparts and themselves. They enjoy monopoly over such committees but without the combination of young and old blood, how these new institutions will bloom, it is a big question", the Assistant Professors said. They further informed that adding more to the injury, there are reports that shortly another meeting of the committee would be held. "It has been decided by the Committee that all the newly appointed APs will not be given any chance in short listing, by giving a lame excuse of their probation time", another AP said, adding that the Higher Education Minister must intervene in the matter and should give fair chance to the newly appointed APs.
