BARAMULLA (Kreeri), June 15: Despite rains, thousands of mourners participated in the last journey of senior Journalist and Editor in Chief of English daily, Rising Kashmir' Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari at his ancestral village Kreeri in north Kashmir.
Vida thousands of people including top politicians, bureaucrats, officials of police and civil administration, journalists, literary persons participated in the funeral prayers of veteran journalist Dr. Syed Shujaat Bukhari at his ancestral village Kreeri.
With moist eyes and heavy heart, thousands including men, women and children bid adieu to Syed Shujaat Bukhari at his home town Kreeri Baramulla in this north Kashmir district.
Former Chief Minster and President National Conference Omar Abdullah, Tanvir Sadiq, Juniad Matoo, Naeem Akhter, Altaf Bukhari, Taj Mohiudin, Mohmmad Yousf Tarigami, Nasir Sogami and Nayeem Akhter, Saif-ud Din Soz, Tasaduk Mufti, A R Veeri, Waheed Parra, MLA Lolab Haq Khan, Independent legislator Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid, and others including bureaucrats, Separatists, police officials, Journalists visited the house of Dr Shujhat and paid condolences with the bereaved family.
People from cross section of society including media organizations have paid condolences on the sad demise of the slain editor and prayed for the eternal soul.
Khateeb and Imami Jamia Kreeri, Syed Shareeful Haq who led the funeral prayers said that, Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari was very pious and kind hearted person, I believe that he got martyrdom today.
He will be laid to rest today on Youmi-Arfa and Jamati-ul Vida when thousands of people including near and dear ones have reached to his ancestral home place Kreeri to give final tearful adieu to his mentor, friend and a good human being, said Shareef-ul Haq.
Women including local folk were seen beating their chest, when coffin was taken on shoulders towards the graveyard for final journey.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Chief Editor of Rising Kashmir' Dr Shujhat and his two personal security officers (PSOs) were shot dead by unknown gunmen at press enclave Srinagar on June 14 at around 7:00 pm.
Reports said that the trio including Dr Shujhat was shifted to the nearby hospital, but doctors present there declared the two brought dead on arrival, while as his second PSO succumbed to his injuries at Hospital.
