Security Forces to resume anti-terrorist operations in J&K after Eid
'Ceasefire cannot be extended to benefit a political party'

Early Times Report
Jammu, June 15: Spurt in militancy related incidents in Kashmir has reportedly led to Centre calling off the Ramazan ceasefire and security forces are all set to resume their operations against militants after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Sources told Early Times hat Centre has turned the demand of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to extend the truce.
Since the day security forces have suspended the operations against the terrorists in the Valley they have been striking at the will and have made inroads into Srinagar city. "If the ceasefire continues it can lead to situation going from bad to worse and the terrorists can create more havoc in the Valley," sources added.
They said that ruling PDP had asked the Centre to extend the truce against terrorists for the political reasons. "The PDP had pleaded before the Centre to consider its request as the party wanted to prepare the ground for the forthcoming elections in the state," they added.
An official said that since the day ceasefire has been announced terrorists have stepped up their activities and are striking without fear. "They have come out of their holes and have even activated the sleeper cells."
It may be recalled that terrorists on Thursday abducted an army man and later shot him dead. Late in the evening a senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari was shot dead by three terrorists outside his office in heart of the Srinagar city.
"Centre has taken a strong note of the spurt in the killings and has decided to call off the ceasefire so that terrorists could be hunted and killed," the official said, adding, "If ceasefire continues it can put the lives of Amarnath pilgrims in risk and can turn them into soft targets."
A source said that Centre has conveyed its decision to the PDP and has asked the party to stay away from the security related issues. "The ill advised ceasefire has already led to terrorists carrying out target killings and they cannot be allowed to turn Kashmir into Syria just for the sake of one party," the source added.
An insider revealed that PDP has not reacted to the decision as it has been left speechless due to terrorists intensifying their activities in the holy month of Ramazan."Centre had decided to announce ceasefire at PDP's insistence. Army was not taken on board and the decision was imposed on the security forces but it has backfired," he added.
