Killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari widely condemned

Jammu, June 15: The brutal killing of editor Rising Kashmir Syed Shujaat Bukhari was widely condemned by media community, political organizations.
Press Council of Mendhar Poonch President M S Nazki strongly condemned the killing of editor in chief Daily English Rising Kashmir Syed Sujhaat Bukhari. Nazki termed the killing of senior journalist Sujhaat Bukhari as murder of journalism, attack on freedom of press. People of Jammu and Kashmir particularly journalist fraternity is in complete shock to hear this tragic news , we strongly condemned this Barabaric attack, he said.
Young Journalist Association Kishtwar under the president ship of its President Asif Iqbal Naik today held an emergency meeting after Friday congressional prayers to mourn the untimely death of veteran Journalist and Editor in Chief of Rising Kashmir Dr. Syed Shujaat Bukhari. The Association in its meeting unanimously condemn the killing of Bukhari and termed it as a cowardice act of the assailant who killed Bukhari on Thursday evening while he was stepping out of his office along with his two PSO,s.
Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party expressed deep shock and condolences on the most inhuman act of brutal murder of a veteran, fearless and undaunted journalist who was brutally gunned down at the doorsteps of his office in the heart of Srinagar City. He also expressed shock on his two security personnel namely, Abdul Hamid & Mohd. Hameed who were also brutally gunned down by the terrorists. He expressed shock on the total failure of the security system as the killers of Sujaat Bukhari and his two PSOs could not be identified even detected by anybody. He described this brutal killing of this senior journalist and fearless writer as a brutal murder and unforgivable. He was editing 'Rising Kashmir' in Srinagar City for several years with strong will and courage.
Press Club of Kathua deeply mourned the loss of Shujaat Bukhari's life and extends its condolences to the bereaved family in this hour of crisis. Press Club of Kathua President Ravinder Singh Slathia said has time and again underlined the threat to the lives of journalists working under difficult and challenging circumstances and demanded protection for them. Press Club of Jammu on Friday paid tributes to Editor in Chief 'Rising Kashmir', who was shot dead by militants in Srinagar on Thursday evening. Two PSOs accompanying him, were also killed in the barbaric terror attack. The fraternity paid tributes to the slain journalist and also condoled his demise. The media persons also observed two minute silence for the peace of departed soul. Remembering his days with Shujaat Bukhari, President Press Club of Jammu, Ashwani Kumar called the incident as unfortunate. He said it was an attack on democracy and added, "I had great memories with Shujaat."
Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Sat Sharma strongly condemned the killing of a senior journalist and Editor in Chief Rising Kashmir, Shujaat Bukhari. Sat Sharma said that such barbaric act cannot be justified at any cost. He conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and security officers who were also shot along with him. Sat Sharma prayed to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta expressed shock over the killing of senior and reputed journalist Shujaat Bukhari in Srinagar. Kavinder Gupta also visited the residence of Suhjaat Bukhari and expressed grief with the family members. Recalling Bukhari's standing as a veteran journalist, the Deputy Chief Minister described his murder as a big loss to the media fraternity. In his message, the Deputy Chief Minister prayed to God to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Kuldeep Kumar Rao an active member of Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice, has strongly condemned the killing of Sr. Journalist from Kashmir, Syed Shujaat Bukhari, the Editor in Chief of English daily Rising Kashmir. He describes the killing as highly shocking, barbaric, deplorable and condemnable. Everyone should condemn this inhuman act irrespective of caste, colour creed, religion or region. Bukhari would often fight for the issues of poor people through the column & various discussions but alas! This voice of poor people stands silenced on 14th of June, 2018 at 7.30 pm outside his office in the press enclave. The murder of Bukhari is a big loss to media fraternity in particular & the poor people of the state in general.
Shamboo Nath Saproo State President Jammu & Kashmir Milchar Front has strongly condemned the killing of Syed Shujaat Bukhari, a veteran journalist and Editor in Chief of "BLUND KASHMIR", Urdu news paper, "SANGARMALL" a Kashmiri news paper & Rising Kashmir, the English daily news paper, saying the act was unpardonable & intolerable. His death is a huge loss to the State in general & Kashmir valley in particular. Saproo also said that he was shocked by his death. It is an attempt to silence the saner voice of Kashmir. He was a courageous and fearless journalist & was fearlessly fighting for peace in the state. He also prayed for peace to the departed soul & strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
In an urgent meeting held in office of We The Human, a charitable public trust, today, resource persons of the trust condemned killing of Shujat Bukhari, a senior journalist of Kashmir Valley, his PSOs and young army rifleman Aurangzeb. Both the killings have been done two days before Eid only to instil fear in minds of peace-loving people of the state and also to fail the peace process initiated by the Government by declaring unilateral ceasefire. Pakistan supported forces are hell bent upon to cause destruction in the state whether by causing killings of innocent peace loving people, misguiding innocent youth of Kashmir or by opening indiscriminate firing on borders, killing civilians & BSF personnel, only to push terrorists inside the state.
