Srinagar, Aug 20: A day ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, sacrificial animlas have gone dearer as authorities watch helplessly. The soaring process of animals have forced many a people to go for collective qurbani (sacrifice). A buyer from Qamarwari said the traders are demanding hefty sums for the sacrificial animals. "The only option left for the commoner is to go for ijtimayee (collective ) qurbani," he said. Srinagar people believe that this time traders are quite hopeful that sales will gain momentum on Arfa as most of the people purchase animals on that day. Nazir Ahmad of Pattan Baramulla said that owing to high prices, the trend of Ijtamai Qurbani (collective sacrifice) is also becoming popular among buyers and if the prices continue to soar up , it would be better to look for other options. Most of the time buyers get involved in endless bargaining but in most of the cases the animals are being weighed and presently sheep costs Rs 200 per kilogram. He said that there are no fixed rates, it depends on the animal seller, how he sells it, they want to make profit, but unfortunate part of it is that market checking squad should issue the rate list so that the general public benefits. Pertinently Muslim Umeah, all over the world, offer sacrifices on Eid ul Azha, in memory of a prophet Hazrat Ibraheem (Abraham) and Hazrat Ismail ASW that was ordained by the Almighty Allah to follow it strictly, but the ordain is for only those who can afford it. |
