Taj's son-in-Law quietly joins Congress, likely to contest from Khanyar | | | Saahil Suhail

Srinagar, Aug 20: With three hundred supporters, senior Congress leader Taj Mohiuddin's son-in-law, Tariq Ahmad Tenga has finally joined Congress party. Tariq Ahmad Tenga, a noted businessman joined party a few weeks ago and has now expedited his political activities in Srinagar. Reliable sources told Early Times that Congress will field Tariq Ahmad Tenga in upcoming assembly elections from Khanyar constituency. Congress high command also plans to utilize his services in civic body elections particularly in Srinagar. Khanyar constituency is currently being represented by National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohd Sagar while as Member of Legislative Council Khursheed Aalm represents Peoples Democratic Party in the area. However, Tariq Ahmad Tenga, who has hotel business and is among top exporters of the state, has quietly started his political activities. On Monday, Tariq Ahmad Tenga confirmed to Early Times that he has formally joined Congress along with his 300 supporters. "Those who joined congress along with me were from PDP and NC," he said, adding maximum political workers among them were office bearers of both the parties. "NC and PDP have stopped mitigating people's problems and issues they are facing. They (People) approached and rather asked me to go for it as I they know me and my social work," he said. Tariq Ahmad said that he had started social work a long ago and had entered into politics to serve the nation and to resolve the issues of poor people. He wowed to disclose all the wrong doings committed by the previous government. |
