KVK organizes certificate distribution camp

POONCH, Oct 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Poonch of Shere-e-Kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences & Technology-Jammu under the patronage of Directorate of Extension Education, SKUAST-Jammu today organized a programme and distributed certificates to the participants of month long training on cutting and tailoring.
The programme was attended by 31 unemployed rural girls of different villages of the district. The programme was organized under the guidance of Associate Director Extension and Incharge KVKs, of SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. Raj Kumar Arora.
Dr. Ajay Gupta, Sr. Scientist and Head of KVK Poonch gave a detailed view of the programme informed that the training programme was started on 10th September 2018 and concluded on 09 October 2018 and the certificates were distributed today among the participants who completed the month long training programme. Giving details of the training he said that the purpose of training was to provide skill in cutting and tailoring to school dropouts and unemployed rural girls so as to become self-dependent. He informed that KVK Poonch took initiative and arranged all the possible facilities for conducting month long vocational training programme on the request of some unemployed rural women and school dropouts. He emphasized that the trainees can utilize their free time and can generate additional income through tailoring profession sitting at home.
He further informed that a female trainer was arranged for this training programme so that the female participants freely interact and learn in a better way. Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma urged all the trainees to utilize the vocational skills learned during this training for securing livelihood opportunities in future. He also assured full cooperation from the KVK to uplift their socio-economic status.
Saleema Akhter, Resource person elaborated that the participants were trained in body measurement, cutting tailoring and finishing of garments, ladies suit, frocks, alteration defects and remedies to fitting problems etc during month long programme.
All the participants were given due chance in cutting and stitching, learning by doing, she added. The participants applauded the efforts taken by the KVK to organize this month long vocational training programme and pledged to utilize this opportunity to increase their income and support their family. Dr. Muzaffar Mir also spoke on the occasion.
