Separatists support NC, PDP, Congress, PC in demanding no change in Articles 35-A and 370 12/6/2018 10:13:01 PM Separatists too have joined the Kashmir centric mainstream political parties clamouring over alleged tampering of Article 35-A, Article 370 and these separatists have gone beyond and call for halt to plan of the Government of India for changing the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik has said New Delhi is devising means and methods to erode and undermine the disputed status of J&K by fiddling with the state subjects laws in order to change the demographic composition of the state, and the new controversy about Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) is part of it. "As part of Doval-doctrine borrowed from Israel, this policy of assaulting Kashmir on all accounts --- physical, economical and psychological-- to put intense pressure to tire out people to give up their legitimate struggle, is well known by now. The people of Kashmir have for past three decades withstood severe Indian repression with full resilence and strong resolve and not budged an inch from striving for their basic right. And that is what they will continue to do so come what may," the three leaders said.Knowing that the demand for autonomy had no buyers the National Conference too has launched a campaign against tampering with Article 35-A, Article 370 and claim to support scrapping of AFSPA.This is the stand taken by the PDP,the Congress and the Peoples' Conference. Knowing that he had lost Chief Ministership after the Governor, S.P.Malik, dissolved the Assembly even Sajjad Lone too has been supporting retention of Article 35-A, Article 370 and wishes to support scrapping of AFSPA. This stand by Kashmir centric mainstream part ies and the separatists have adopted to register their presence and authority.While the Congress, the NC and the PDP besides Peoples' Conference clamour over state subject laws and Article 370 simply to keep their vote bank in tact the separatists have voiced their support for rfetention of Article 35-A and Article 370 to register their import ance and influence among people. These separatists, whether hard liners or moderates, thrive on the support of people because whenever these separatists give a call, though repeated, for shutdown majority of people respond to it. This is their strength when they have been opposed to contesting the Assembly or Lok Sabha elections.
