Young Panthers stage protests for indoor stadium
12/6/2018 11:00:04 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 6: Anguished over the dilapidated condition of the land allotted by the JDA for the construction of indoor stadium at Bhagwati Nagar, a strong contingent of Young Panthers led by Tarseem Singh, District President Young Panthers, Bhanu Partap Gouria, Jammu West President, Young Panthers and Raghav Talwar, Zonal President, Young Panthers in the presence of Partap Singh, State Vice President Young Panthers staged a vociferous protest demonstration here in Jammu today. The angry protesters while raising slogans against the erstwhile coalition government and BJP in particular demanded immediate construction of the said stadium to promote sports culture in Jammu region.
Addressing the media, Pratap Singh regretted that the land allotted for the indoor stadium at Bhagwatinagar has turned into a filthy place where the garbage of the adjacent areas are dumped to cause nuisance to the public health and hygiene. He said that the land was earmarked in 2014 for the said stadium but the erstwhile government remained lackadaisical towards encouraging recreational avenues for the local youth. Lambasting the BJP for its servile posturing before the PDP in the past four years, he said while the sports culture was promoted in the valley, Jammu region was despicably kept neglected and deprived of infrastructural facilities meant for encouraging sports. "The filthy land emanating foul smell tells the tragic tale of the fate of indoor stadium. No body from the BJP including the local ex-MLA bothered to pay any heed upon the miserable plight of the land while in power.
The youth of Jammu faced the worst ever discrimination under BJP rule. Besides facing obnoxious bias in employment, the young fraternity was being trapped in drug addiction by the rampant mafia operating in the entire province. Encouraging youth to participate in sports and other recreational activities could have diverted the youth towards a constructive and meaningful path. But BJP failed to do so", Pratap regretted.
