Early Times Report MENDHAR, Dec 9: The implementation of traffic norms seems to be distant dream in the Poonch district, especially Surankote tehsil, where overloading of passenger vehicles is going on unchecked. A Social worker Akash Malik said, "Violation of traffic rules and regulations is going on unabated in the district, with the authorities failing miserably." "Minimal use of crash helmets by two wheeler riders is the major violation, while overloading of passenger vehicles in another serious issue. As the number of vehicles is lesser than the demand, transporters indulge in overloading, which poses a serious threat on the accident prone roads," he added. He appealed to the authorities to keep a check on the violations, in order to ensure that travelling becomes less risky. |
