Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 15: Former Chief Minister and National Conference President Omar Abdullah who has allegedly not been seen on the ground during crises of sorts in the state, has been busy showing his concern for the people through twitter drawing flak from far and wide.
From expressing concern on the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway to the imposition of curfew of Jammu, Omar has been showing concern only through social media while many said they are "fed up of his tweets."
At first he was busy saying that stranded Kashmiris in Jammu need boarding and lodging facilities and that everyone should help them. "But he(Omar) himself never came out of his palatial villa to lend any helping hand," said Twitter user.
After making his "assistants in the party serve symbolic food" to some stranded people in Jammu, Omar is now concerned about the safety of people of Kashmir ahead of elections.
"My earnest appeal to @rajnathsingh ji to please issue directions to all state governments to take special care in areas/colleges/institutions where Kashmiris are residing/studying. They are soft targets in a surcharged atmosphere," Omar wrote.
His next tweet was on situation in Jammu. "Have been in touch with J&K police officials regarding the situation in #Jammu. I've been assured that two columns of army have been requisitioned & moved to the most vulnerable areas to take control of the situation," he tweeted.
A senior official said Omar was showing concern on things which the authorities already take care of.
"Just to be in news he shows concern on everything because his concern doesn't extend beyond the twitter. If he is so concerned why doesn't he appear on the ground," the official said on the condition of anonymity.
A senior leader of the NC however downplayed the matter. "Atleast he is active on Twitter others don't even show that concern," the leader said.
Despite repeated attempts, Omar couldn't be contacted for comments.
