Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Feb 17: Two days after Home Minister, Rajnath Singh asked the security agencies to review security of separatists in Kashmir; the Jammu & Kashmir administration led by Governor Satya Pal Malik today issued formal orders of withdrawal of security of five separatist leaders.
The security has been withdrawn with respect to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone and Hashim Qureshi. The security vehicles allotted in favour of these separatists have also been withdrawn with immediate orders from this evening only.
An official spokesman said that the Government is issuing orders withdrawing all security and any government facilities provided to the separatist leaders-Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Ghani Bhat, Bilal Lone, Hashim Qureshi and Shabir Shah. All security and any vehicles provided to them will stand withdrawn by today evening.
"No security forces or cover should be provided, under any pretext, to them or any other separatists. If they have any other facilities provided by Government, they are to be withdrawn forthwith. PHQ will review if there are any other separatists who have Government security or facilities and will withdraw these immediately," said the official spokesman.
In the said order there is no mention of withdrawal of security to separatists like Maulana Abbas Ansari and Aga Syed Hassan. On the other side separatists like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mohammad Yasin Malik are not enjoying any security whatsoever from the government.
A police posse is posted at Geelani's residence at Hyderpora in order to ensure that he does not break the cordon put around his house since he continues to be under house arrest. The cordon is lifted as and when the separatist is taken to the hospital or a doctor for consultation.
Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) General Secretary, Ram Madhav responded to a twitter user who had said that why no security has been withdrawn from Geelani and Malik. The BJP General Secretary responded and wrote on Twitter that separatist leaders Geelani and Malik were not having any security from cover.
In the meantime, Shabir Shah's party, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has said that Shah was not enjoying any security at the moment of time and same was withdrawn long back. Mirwaiz Umar has said that he had never demanded security and the decision in this regard was taken by the state government of their own.
It would be in place to mention here that Home Minister had on Friday asked the security agencies to review security of separatists since they are receiving funds and other encouragement from Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan. He was in town to review security following February 14 Fidayeen attack on CRPF convoy at Lethpora on Srinagar-Jammu national highway. In the incident 49 CRPF personnel lost their lives and the attack was condemned widely across the globe.
