'Parachute' ASP aspires key posting
'Courting NC leaders for personal interest
6/19/2019 12:05:51 AM

Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: An Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), nicknamed as 'Parachute' in the departmental circles, and deployed in Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range, in a bid to secure a key posting is currently making frequent rounds at the doorsteps of senior National Conference (NC) leaders.
Sources told Early Times that the ASP misses no opportunity to give an audience to top NC leaders as and when they visit Jammu so that he could be able to get a prime posting with the blessings of his political masters.
"He is eyeing to take over the command of Rural Special Wing Traffic, and to accomplish his mission, he is using all the resources available at his disposal," said sources.
They said the officer was not recruited in the police as per the routine process, rather his 'backdoor' entry into the department was made possible by the blessings of the NC leaders as he was taken directly as DySP. Though two people were directly recruited as DySPs only on the basis of political recommendations, one of them had to leave the department after a court of law's direction.
"The influence and clout of the ASP is well known in the department. He had been nicknamed Parachute by few senior officers as he did not join the police as per the laid down procedure, rather he was inducted directly from the top," said sources.
Sources said that the influential ASP is currently holding the same posting which he had already served in the past. His proximity with the NC leaders is an open secret and this friendliness has fetched him prime postings when he was SDPO and thereafter as ASP. That's why he keeps a constant touch with the NC leaders.
"But now the ASP has made up his mind to go for a change in the wing. He has already started working to project himself for the new assignment. Since the ASP himself belongs to a political family, the officer was able to secure political help easily as and when required in the past and it would not be a big deal that he again picks up such favours without much fuss," said sources.
