BARAMULLA, June 19: The tall claims of Education Department go down the drain as GPS and GHS have not been clubbed yet in Baramulla town with the result poor students lose their precious days of education in this advanced age.
In past hundreds of government schools were clubbed with other schools that were having low enrollment of students and those schools that were not having their own building.
Sources said that there are two government schools in Binner, High School and Primary School and both are working at one place, but the irony is that, the Primary School was not merged with the high school so for.
Even though the orders of clubbing were issued by the concerned authorities, the school authorities have failed to merge the school due to some unknown reasons, sources toldEarly Times.
The SSA Primary School has two rooms, two teachers for class Ist to class 5th, while as there are approximately 15 rooms and 15 teachers for class 6th to class 10th at High School.
In 2017 DSEK had issued an order for clubbing of schools so that students can take benefit from the combined teachers, and there will be no burden on the already sanctioned staff in the respective schools, said sources.
Sources said that in the recent past, the Chief Education Officer Baramulla issued an order vide no: CEO/Bla/Plg/15675-78 dated 12/05/2018 with regard to non implementation of their previous order vide no: CEO/Bla/4321-38 Dated: 12/05/2017 for clubbing of PS Ganaie Mohalla Binner with BHS Binner.
The order said that, this office has received a communication from Zonal Education Officer Baramulla along with representation for clubbing PS Ganaie Mohalla Binner with BHS Binner, which indicated that the DSEK's order no: DESK/Innovation/525-597/17 DATED 18/04/2017 has not been implemented till date.
"Now you are hereby directed to club PS Ganaie Mohalla Binner with BHS Binner immediately under intimation to this office and explain your position why the above referenced order has not been implemented till date within two days, falling which action under riles may be initiated against you," reads the order that is in possession of ET.
Basically there is an overstay of teachers in the concerned school, as they have not been transferred from past many years due to unknown reasons, and one can doubt that favoritism rules the roost, and in between students are suffering like anything, sources alleged.
The parents have raised eyebrows over the functioning of education department who said that, why the order has not been implemented till date and will protest against the authorities and will take up this matter with the governor, if the problem was not solved well in time.
Theoretically the school has been merged but practically it functions from two separate schools that have different timetable, said sources.
