Out of 289 posts of lecturers, 148 posts which is more than 50% of the sanctioned strength are lying vacant. Out of 26 sanctioned posts of Account Assistant, 24 are lying vacant and as per the sources, most of these vacant posts are being held by the Teachers/Master grades thus further denting the education department at grass root level.
Beside all the above mentioned posts, 23 post of Senior Assistant, 112 posts of Teacher, 10 posts of Librarian, 23 posts of Junior Assistant (RMSA), 18 posts of Library Assistant, 45 posts of Laboratory Assistant, 44 posts of Laboratory Bearer, 185 posts of Class IV, 8 Posts of Physical Education Lecturer, 22 posts of Physical Education Master, 5 posts of Physical Education Teacher, 6 posts of Junior librarian, 7 posts of Account Assistant are lying vacant.
Speaking to Early Times, senior officials inform that the matter with regard to 1056 vacant posts in the District has been communicated to higher officials from time to time through proper channels added that it is government who had to take the final call over the recruitment against these vacant posts.
They said that due to such huge number of vacancies, the department is suffering badly, particularly the schools situated in the rural areas of the District where the majority of the posts are lying vacant as compared to the posts sanctioned in schools within the city and its adjoining areas.
The sources told the Early Times, that the in one High School situated in the vicinity of the Kishtwar— there are 35 teachers/Masters for 58 students while in rural areas around 5-7 teachers for 300-350 students which is injustice with the students of rural area and the monopoly in the education department to absorb the blue eyed employees against these posts.
