Security beefed in Kishtwar ahead of PM's visit | | | ET Plus Report
Kishtwar, June 24 : In wake of today's major terror strike on Army Convoy in Hyderpora Byepass, Srinagar killing eight army men and injuring 14 others, the security has been beefed up in Kishtwar town and its vicinity ahead of the visit of Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi who are scheduled to address the public gathering on Tuesday. "All the roads leading to the venue and venue too have been virtually seized and extra security forces were deployed to counter any mischief from the miscreants, sources said. Sources said that new security check points (nakas) have been erected in the city while all vehicles moving in and around Kishtwar are being checked thoroughly. "Besides this police has also checked the various records of check in list of various hotels in Kishtwar to keep check on the people staying in the hotels, they added. The security forces have also launched search operation in and around Kishtwar town and particularly the forest area adjoining Kishtwar town. A high level security meeting too was held in the evening in which the police and administration revisited the security arrangements.
