Rajouri Police solves 'blind murder of youth' within 24 hrs

Rajouri, Nov 29: Rajouri police today claimed to have solved the blind murder of a youth within 24 hours whose body was found lying in a dry rivulet on Rajouri-Budhal road on Friday with the arrest of main accused. Police sources said, "The accused has been identified as Mohd Rashid s/o Mohd Bashir r/o Chingus (Rajouri) a bus driver by profession." bus and had engaged the deceased as conductor and killed him over some dispute after hitting with iron rod (Pana) o November,28. Sharing details of investigation, Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, DrHaseeb Mughal said that o November 28 some people saw a body of a youth lying in the rivulet near FaizaMorh adjacent to main road who immidetaly reported matter to police. "A police team led by Mohd Bashir , SHO, Kotranka was rushed to spot and seized the body and took it to Community Health Centre (CHC) Kandi while the identity of deceased was yet to be ascertained, he said, adding, "Police contacted the people on public address system to identify the body and one Hakim Din R/O Jaglano identified the deceased as GhulamHussain alias Machhar S/O Hassan Din R/O Kunderdhan Tehsil Mahore of Reasi."Police contacted the family members and later got the post-mortem conducted and then handed over body following the legal formalities. "Meanwhile Post-mortem reports revealed large number of scars of wound on the body, he added. "Police also recovered a chit from deceased's body carrying mobile umber and vehicle number. SHO verify the cell and vehicle numbers which were found of one Mohd Rashid S/O Mohd Bashir R/O Chingus who is driver of the vehicle bearing regd No.JK02AG/7193 (a passenger Bus), SSP Rajouri said. He said, "The mobile number of the driver / deceased was kept under surveillance to locate the current location of driver and during monitoring, the location of the driver was found at Mahore". Special team of the police apprehended driver from Mahore and during sustained interrogation, the Mohd Rashid confessed his crime and disclosed that he has murdered the deceased. "The accused disclosed that on 27/11/14 at about 1030 hours, he brought the deceased from Kunderdhan (Reasi) and engaged him as conductor of his vehicle and proceeded towards Rajouri. On the same day at about 11 am while on way back to Mahore both entered into a clash and he assaulted the deceased with an iron rod (Pana) who died on spot and after throwing his body in a dry rivulet he left for Mahore, police officer said while quoting the accused . He said that Mohd Rashid further disclosed that he spent November 27 night at Budhal and next morning left for Mahore in connection with transportation of Political Rally. On his disclosure, Police seized the mobile phone of the deceased from the vehicle No.JK02AG/7193 (Bus). Meanwhile murder case under section 302 RPC (FIR 86/2014) stands registered against the accused.
