Gurjeet Singh visits Rotary Club of Jammu

Jammu, Mar 30: Rotary international Governor for Punjab, Himachal and Jammu Kashmir Rtn. Gurjeet Singh visited Rotary Club of Jammu City. The club President Rtn. Gurdev Singh Sodhi took pride in highlighting the projects which have been completed last month.
According to press release, 10 number of tube wells were handed over to the public after completing them in Kathua, Samba, Rajouri and Bishnah Jammu. These projects valued at Rs.11 lakh were donated by Rotary International. The second project valued at Rs. 23 lakh providing Irrigation system at Khojipora for women empowerment was also completed and very soon will be handed over to the village khojipor.
The club also announced that through Rotary International Gift of Life project more than 200 children from poor families were operated free of cost for heart congenital disease at Fortis Hospital at Delhi. Each operation cost Rotary more than 2.5 lakh. On the occasion the club honored various people for their exemplary service to society.Rtn. KK Langar was honored with "Service Above Self" award for his service to get these children operated. Commodore Dalbir Singh of Indian Navy was honored for " Service Above Self’ award in non-Rotarian Category for his exemplary service during floods in Jammu and Kashmir wherein he volunteered and rescued more than 200 families in spite of the attack by separatist groups on his team in Kashmir. The third award of vocational service excellence was conferred upon Urja Singh for promoting local Dogri culture and training young people for gainful employment in the field of Art and culture and more than 40 young persons were trained by her NGO the performers. The senior Rotarian members Rotarians, Adeep Singh Mehta, Sanjeev Vaid, Harbans Singh, Prem Shankar Singh, Saila Singh, Gaurav vaid. K C Singh and others were present in the meeting.
