PRP leadership in quandary
3/30/2015 11:12:50 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 30: The newly constituted Peoples Republican Party (PRP) leadership is in a quandary in Kashmir Valley as they failed to get any recognition from the Union Government for their pro-nationalist stand in last year Assembly elections.
The PRP candidates who contested elections in a dozen of Assembly segments in Kashmir failed to get due recognition by the State and Central governments for their role in strengthening nationalist forces in the State and mobalizing the public opinion against the separatist forces by siding with mainstream political parties.
According to sources despite petitioning before the representatives of Union and State government as well as coalition leaders the PRP leaders fail to get attention. Even the security of the Party candidates has been withdrawn by the government soon after the elections were over putting them and their families to grave security risk.
Sources said instead of encouraging and providing moral support to the activists of the organization who mustered guts and courage in giving a challenge to the separatist forces in the Valley by joining the poll process to strengthen the democratic fabric of India and also the relations of the State with rest of the country are today perturbed over the roll of both Union as well as State government towards the Party.
During the time of elections we were assured all support and help to grow as an independent party to strengthen the democratic institutions in the State but soon after the elections were over the government backtracked from the promise and even the security of the candidates who contested the last year elections were withdrawn said a PRP leader on the condition of anonymity.
He said that our supporters who voted in favour of our candidates are also perturbed as they are being harassed by their political opponents as well as separatists but government does not bother to thing about their welfare.
Those who voted for Party seek replies to their quarries from us and the leadership has no answer to their quarries, said another PRP activist. The people had an expectation from the leadership that it will emerge a democratic alternative after raising a voice against the misrule and anti peoples policies of previous government. But with the absence of the support from the government the leadership is totally perturbed and they face humiliation while facing their supporters.
Sources said it will be a great blunder on the part of the Government if it ignores the cadre of the Party which against all odds worked for strengthening the democratic institutions in the State. And the Government should learn a lesson from past blunders and accommodate the PRP leadership so that it can get strengthened in the State further to take on those forces who in one way or other have damaged the cause of people of the State.
