AIBCU expresses resentment over non representation to OBCs
3/30/2015 11:13:32 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 30: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) today held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Abdul Majid Malik to discuss the matter of MLC seats in both houses of state legislature.
Speakers and participants resented over the way of selection of MLCs ignoring the due representation of the big chunk of population of the State OBCs whose population in the State is about 60%. Since independence there is nil representation in both the houses. Only upper caste politics is being done. N.C & Congress regim looted the due share of 27% reservation granted by the Apex Court by its judgment of 1992 on Mandal Report besides ignoring the due representation in both the houses.
The new dispensation of BJP & PDD has till date selected MLCs only from the upper castes from Muslims and Hindus without considering the appeal of the State OBCs.
Speakers and participants further made a scatting attack over the nominations of eight MLC seats by the State Governor who is authorised to distribute these MLC seats under Art 50 of the JK Constitution but till date after independence implementation of this Art 50 found its place nowhere in the state. There are news in many daily newspapers for distributing these 8 MLC seats among politicians of BJP & PDP which is totally contradictory to the constitution.
