PIL regarding conversion of Basmati rice growing Land

JAMMU, Mar 30: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Ranjeet Singh Chib in which petitioner expressed his concern for illegal conversion of world famous Basmati Paddy/Rice Land growing into concrete jungle with free hand in Sub Division RS Pura. As per PIL petitioner submitted that thousands of Kanals of land has been converted into banquet halls, residential colonies and business complexes in last five years without obtaining permission from the Revenue Minister as required under J&K Land Revenue Act, in which earlier Division Bench restrained construction on Agriculture land, today when this PIL came-up for hearing , petitioner who is appearing in person alleged that in breach of the prohibitory orders, violations are still taking place, Upon this Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today after hearing petitioner in person, dissatisfied with the steps taken by the respondents, directed Deputy Commissioner Jammu and SDM RS Pura to appear in person tomorrow.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench after perusing the minutes of meeting held on March 3, 2015 under the chairmanship of SDM RS Pura, dissatisfied with the steps taken by them and directed Deputy Commissioner Jammu and SDM RS Pura to appear in person tomorrow i.e. March 31, 2015 to explain the position. —JNF
