Jammu, June 22: In botanical Garden of Jammu university, 360th Tree Talk was hosted, which was attended by 40 Botany Professors ,lecturers ,Botany scholars , M Sc students and Tree Talk enthusiasts. According to press release, Prof Yash Pal Sharma HoD Botany while hosting 360th Tree Talk interaction for scholars and students of Botany emphasized the need of revival of local conservation practices , plant based herbal healing , protection of sacred water bodies like Bhaid Devta ,phasing out non-biodegradable plastic bags ,adoption of green Agri techniques ,popularising organic farming and improving guality and health of soils which sustain micro and macro level biodiversity and ultimately regulate eco-services and recycle biogeochemicals without any generation of garbage in the surroundings. Prof Vidya Sagar Verma while highlighting the need of practicing best agri-cultural farming techniques focused on conservation of wild germplasm in natural forests and wastelands by way of Ex-Situ conservation in Floriculture, Botanical and herbal gardens.Wild fruit trees like Kainth, Dheu, Ber, Karaunda, Mahua, Figs, Mulberries, Pears, cherries, Hazelnuts, Pines, Grewias, Kachnars, Sohanjana, Bird cherries, Horse chestnuts, Hackberries can be introduced by farmers in their agricultural lands as agroforestry trees of great economic returns. |
