Katra, June 22: Intensifying its drive against the usage of plastic bags and ensuring the implementation of plastic bags ban, a team of officials conducted raid in Katra market and realized a fine of Rs 18100 on violators'. According to press release, the team of officials included SDM Katra-Anil Chandail, ASP Katra-Sameer Kotwal, Tehsildar Katra-Kavita Pandoh, officers from municipality and pollution control board Katra. More than 18kg polythene bags were also seized which were openly used despite strict ban. SDM while speaking on the occasion said, as per the direction of Deputy Commissioner Reasi we have initiated several measures like regular market checking and awareness programs for strict implementation of ban on Polythene bag, adding all officials concerned have also been directed to ensure effective implementation of the ban and to encourage people to use alternative of plastic bags like paper and jute bags, it added. SDM appealed people to co-operate in saving environment and asked them not to use polythene bags and bring jute or cloth bags while coming for shopping in the market. |
