Minister appeals for calm; Probe ordered
Normalcy restored in Rajouri

Rajouri, July 24: On the intervention of Minister for CA&PD, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali and coordinated efforts of the administration, normalcy was restored in Rajouri district today with both the communities having resolved their differences amicably.
According to the district administration, all the business establishments in the district opened today with public transport plying normally as curfew was relaxed from this morning.
Friday prayers were offered peacefully in the Masjids across the district. Seventeen youth arrested for stone pelting on the police personnel have also been released.
The Minister for CA&PD held a joint meeting with the representatives of both the communities and patiently listened to the issues raised by them. It was decided in the meeting that the youth arrested will be released and directions were issued to the District Magistrate, Rajouri to initiate enquiry into the matter which led to such a critical situation in the district. On the directions of the Minister, District Magistrate, Rajouri has issued an order for conducting magisterial enquiry by appointing Additional District Magistrate (Assistant Commissioner, Revenue) Rajouri as enquiry officer. Both the communities assured that they will not breach the peaceful atmosphere. The Minister also visited District Hospital Rajouri to enquire about the health condition of cops who were injured in stone pelting and instructed DDC to bear expenses of treatment of these cops.During his interaction with the people, the Minister said that Rajouri has always remained a symbol of communal harmony. He said there are miscreants in every society who try to destabilize peace and disturb the situation only for their vested interests.He urged the people to remain cautious about the designs of these miscreants and work for peace and progress. He appealed all communities to identify these miscreants and hand them over to police so that peace and tranquillity could be maintained in the area. He assured people that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is concerned for safety and security of all communities and development of all the regions and people must cooperate with the government in this regard.
