Sleuths of LMD book ‘Cafe Coffee Day’, ors for overcharging | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 24: Acting on the complaint of consumers for being overcharged, the sleuths of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) booked two business establishments including ‘Cafe Coffee Day’ and Imposed fine @ Rs 5000/- to each. Official spokesperson said that complainant has alleged that he purchased pack of Browni with ice cream from Cafe Cofee Day and was billed Rs 135 . “The complainant paid the bill through smart card and he was shocked to note that an amount of Rs 170 was deducted from his account, official spokesperson said adding, “the Consumer lodged the complaint with the department which checked the case and penalized the staff of Café Coffee Day’ for a sum of Rs 5000/-. Acting on another in complaint the department booked one Electronic Rechargable Battery Seller at Gumat locality for charging exorbitant rates of Rs 750 against the marked price of Rs 75 in the said imported item. Official said that an undertaking was obtained from trader not to sell the said packages marked with deceptive MRP's while a fine upto RS 5000/- was imposed against him for alleged fleecing of gullible customer. |
