Bail denied to two fraudsters in cyber crime

JAMMU, Sept 21:Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu Sunit Gupta today rejected the bail application of Anil Kumar and Rajeev Tanwar who were arrested by the crime branch in much publicized Cyber Crime Case who duped peoples lacs of rupees on the name of Insurance, Mobile Towers.
According to the SSP Crime Branch Jammu Mubassir Latifi that Crime Branch acted after getting series of complaints from the people that they had been duped by the telephone callers, who claimed themselves to be the representatives of prominent banks, insurance companies etc and asked the people to deposit amount in their accounts by promising them hefty returns. "The fraudsters had also been taking amount from the people by promising to install mobile towers, ATMs etc in their houses and shops at the rate of Rs 50,000 or even Rs 1 lakh per month,'' Latifi said, adding a number of people had been cheated by the accused by making the fraud calls from different offices in Noida, Gurgaon and New Delhi. The accused had frequently been changing their offices and posing themselves as self-styled Directors and representatives of various Directors and companies. CJM Jammu Sunit Gupta after hearing Senior Prosecuting Officers Rajeshwar Basotra and Rohini Manhas for the state along with IO Parvez Sajjad, observed that in the present case the accused persons have reportedly in the business duping innocent persons and extract their hard earned money through fraudlent callers/agents and more so, the investigating agency is still under process to unearth the different angles of the case and they are in search of more incriminating material against the accused persons and if at this stage the accused persons shall be admitted on bail in that event the investigating process is likely to be thwarted and the accused persons shall get change to conceal and eliminate the material evidence against them. With these observations Court dismissed the bail application. (JNF)
