Early Times Report

Kishtwar Sept 25: Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated today across Kishtwar with religious fervour and gaiety. The day passed off peacefully with no untoward incident reported from anywhere. For the first time in 25 years of turmoil in the state, no anti-national slogan was raised by the people when the Eid procession moved from Chougan Ground to the shrine of sufi saint Hazrat Shah Mohammad Fareed-ud-Din Baghdadi.
As per the tradition, after completion of Eid namaz, hundreds of people marched in the form of procession raising religious slogans and maintaining communal harmony.
SP Kishtwar Youghal Manhas, when contacted, gave credit to local youth, politicians and police for the incident-free Eid celebrations. The people this time had outrightly rejected the anti-national and anti-social forces, he added.
He said that counseling sessions held by senior police officers like Dy SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed and Dy SP Operation Irshad A Imager along with SHO Ishwar Sameer Jeelani with local youth under the guidance of additional SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom also played a key role in changing the mindset of youth who were earlier influenced by anti-national forces.
He said that strict action taken by the police against hate mongers during Eid-ul-Fitr had also given a clear signal to the anti-national forces that they had no place in society and added that such forces would be dealt with iron hands. He said that Kishtwar police would remain constantly in touch with the youth so as to prevent them from falling prey to anti-national elements.
