UK citizen among 3 booked for cheating, Rs 35 lakh recovered

Kishtwar, Sept 25: Kishtwar police today claimed to have booked a United Kingdom (UK) citizen along with three others including a woman in a case of cheating and recovered Rs 35 lakh from their procession, besides a meteorite type material. While giving details, SP Kishtwar Youghal Man said that on the basis of the complaint lodged by one Mukesh Sharma son of Bohu Ditta of Akhnoor, Jammu, police parties led by Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed and SHO Police Station Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani laid nakas at several places and arrested the accused from Drabshala. He said that during the search of the accused, police recovered an amount of Rs 35 lakh and added that on the basis of preliminary investigation, police booked four persons including a woman under FIR No 165/2015 and sections 419 and 420. The accused were identified as Naresh Kumar Gonda son of Mani Lai of Rohani Delhi, kingpin Jia Chowdhary wife of Ram Pal of Jaipur, Mubarak Bakhtoo son of Abdul Gafoor of London, UK, (at present New Delhi) and Abdul Qayoom son of Gulam Mohammad of Nishat, Srinagar.
As per police sources, Mukesh Kumar was allegedly lured by the accused in the deal of meteoroid and he paid six and seven lakh respectively to the accused as first and 2nd installments and added that the complainant on the demand of accused paid Rs 35 lakh to them as another installment with the promise that they would provide him the meteoroid, but after feeling cheated, he brought the matter to the notice of Kishtwar police who swung into action and arrested the accused and recovered Rs 35 lakh cash from their possession. Sources said that UK citizen also invested Rs 50 lakh with the business party in the past and added that the investigation conducted so far by the police also revealed the name of some local people who were involved in the case.
