BANDIPORA, Jan 10: One militant was killed and one army jawan got injured in an encounter at Hajin area of Bandipora District in north Kashmir on Tuesday morning.
According to senior police official that, "acting on specific information about the presence of the two militants in Parray Mohalla of Hajin area, security forces launched a search operation in the village.
A joint team of security forces including Army's 13 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), police and SOG were conducting the search operation however the hiding militant opened fire on them, which ensued an encounter, the police official told early times. The official said that, "The fire was retaliated, triggering a brief encounter in which a militant was killed whose identification was not immediately ascertained adding that a soldier got injured who was removed to Army hospital for advanced treatment. He said that, huge cache of arms and ammunition including one AK- 47 rifle, 4 marines, 3 han
grenades, 1 wireless set, magazine pouches, rounds and other war like stores have been recovered from his possession. This is a major setback to the militant organizations as in the recent past a top militant commander of LeT outfit, Muzzafer Iqbal Naikoo alias Muzze Molvi was killed in a brief gunfight with security forces in Mucha area of Budgam district on Jan 6, the official added. However sources said that, "in less than a month top three commanders of LeT were killed in separate encounters, before Muzze Molvi, another militant of Pakistani origin, Abu- Bakr was killed in an encounter near Sopore town of Baramulla district. Sources believed that this is a big blow to the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, as one after another militants are being killed by the security forces.

encounter at Hajin this morning.
A soldier also sustained injuries.
Pertinently on Jan 5, one Lashkar-e-Toiba militant namely Ashiq Ahmed alias Abu Haider was apprehended by Handwara Police and 21RR near Fruit Mandi crossing in Handwara tehsil of Kupwara district, sources added.
