Despite disconnection drive by PHE, influential miscreants at Katra manage illegal water connections

KATRA, Jan 11: Although the Government of Jammu and Kashmir is now a days busy in promoting the save water drive by organizing awareness camps, some miscreants at Holy town Katra while flouting the rules have managed to get illegal connections from the main supply of PHE department.
Making mockery of the PHE Department Katra, some misreants of village near Railway Station Katra being influencial are alledgedly having illegal water supply connection even after the disconnection by the top official of PHE in the past.
According to the sources, some of the miscreants having influence of the political parties have managed to supress the daily wagers of PHE Department Katra and succeded to get illegal connection with 1 inch pipes instead of 1/2 inches which is legal. sources said that even some of the miscreants doesnot bear any connection of water supply and have not registered alongwith proper documentation within the department. A resident of the same village while pleading anonymity said, " I am a bonafi
Despite drive against illegal water connections by the PHE, influential Katra people manage connections illegally under the nose of the authorities.
e subsriber of PHE water supply and have registered connection but a few of person in the village being representatives of the village as well as in association with some political parties have managed to get illegal connection from the main supply pipe owing which the water flow to other people got stopped thereby making the people to go somewhere else to fetch water for drinking and other purposes even after paying bills regularly". He again added that the top official of PHE department Katra after a proper enquiry have disconnected their connections but the same people again get their illegal connection pipes fixed after the officials left.
when contacted Ajay Sharma, AEE PHE Katra said, " earlier, I personally have disconnected some illegal connections after a proper enquiry and have threatened them for not fixing the illegal pipes being an offence which is against law". he added that will again visit the village and will get the pipes disconnected thereby taking a strict action against the miscreants whichsoever is permissible by law.
