Principal Secretary leaves workshop midway

Jammu, Apr 20: High voltage drama was witnessed during one day workshop on e-procurement and drug vaccine Distribution and Management system (e-Aushadhi) and Commercial Taxes organized by Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd here when heated argument broke out between doctors and management of the Corporation forcing Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education to leave the workshop midway.
Highly placed sourced informed Early Times that JKMSC Ltd organized workshop above cited subjected and invited all BMOs, CMOs and others across state but after some hours BMOs raised issue of the non-availability of drugs and other related items in the Government hospitals across State. They also alleged JKMSC has failed to fulfill its commitment to keep all drugs and surgical items available in the health institutions.

BMOs raised issue of the non-availability of drugs and other related items in the Government hospitals across State. They also alleged JKMSCL has failed to fulfill its commitment to keep all drugs and surgical items available in the health institutions.

Sources said that all government hospitals have been directed not to purchase any types of drugs and other material from the open market due to which all government hospitals in the state are facing hardship and patients are suffering.
Sources stated that for last some years, the premier health institutes in Jammu province i.e. Government Medical College and Hospital, Shri Maharaja Ghulab Singh Hospital, CD Hospital, Super Specialty Hospital Jammu as well as District, Sub District Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Center (CHC) have been managing on their own by purchasing drugs locally.
Sources claimed that number of times the issue was brought to the notice of senior officials of Health and Medical Department Jammu and Kashmir as well as JKMSC about the limited stock of drugs available in all government hospitals, but not even single medicine has been provided so far.
Managing Director (MD) of JKMSC Dr Yashpal Sharma was not available for comments.
