State BJP wants central leaders to convince CM
9/23/2017 11:29:16 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 23: The leaders of the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have approached the central leadership to intervene to persuade the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to accept the demand for announcing government holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
The BJP, which swept the Jammu region in the last elections and was seemingly quite assured of the repeat in the coming elections got a jolt today when anti-BJP slogans were raised at the venue of the celebration of Maharaja Hari Singh's anniversary.
"What happened today is the reflection of the poor connect and extremely poor leadership of the state BJP unit. They (BJP leaders) are acting as if they are sure to get elected the next time. The entire state leadership has failed and now we are again being pulled in this matter. Though, we can't make a commitment right now but have to pull out our sinking ship in J&K," said a top BJP leader.
According to the sources, the BJP central leadership has reprimanded the state leadership for its poor articulation. "Maharaja Hari Singh is the pride of the J&K and the BJP has all along projected him as a political icon. But these people have failed to materialize on the political gains made in many decades. They have emerged as people acting against the interests of the Jammu," the BJP leader added.
The sources said that BJP central leaders would soon discuss this issue with the state leadership.
