Government appoints leader of 'Azadi brigade' as Mission Director
Backdoor recruitments made in SDM with impunity
10/25/2017 11:09:41 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 25: He was preaching Azadi and was hosting Kahwa-talk in Srinagar until recently, when the government in complete violation of the rules appointed him as the Director of newly created J&K State Skill Development Mission (SDM) through backdoor. Within just one month of his appointment he has now set a new record in making backdoor appointments in the Government to please his bosses.
Vide notification number 1 of 2017 dated 7.10.2017 J&K Skill Development Mission (SDM) invited various posts of Communication Officer, Office Superintendent, Event Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Office Assistant and Orderlies. These posts were notified for engagement in the Mission Directorate J&K. But to complete shock of everyone these posts were to be filled by just walk in interview and not through the laid procedure. The interview date was kept on 12 October. If it took two days to publish the notice in newspaper it clearly means no one got to know about it.
Clearly the notice was meant for candidates who were already known to the 'Kehwa man' and his patrons. Sources said that this entire exercise was already fixed and no opportunity was given to deserving candidates and blue eyed candidates had been informed in advance about the date and time of interview. Qualification requirements were also fixed. Although Skill Mission is a Government Department, it adopted a totally opaque method of recruitment by completely overlooking the JK Government recruitment rules.
"Keeping in view the level of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir such a fraud calls for a vigilance probe", said a senior officer on the conditions of anonymity. Appointing people into Government without due publicity to posts and without following due procedure speaks tonnes about the integrity of this backdoor appointee and the Govt should immediately sack him before the worm can is unlid further.
While the Government of India had abolished interviews for all group D posts to bring in transparency this interview business of the Skill Mission is a proof that the recruitment process was rigged. Sources further said that a complaint in this regard has been launched with PMO by some aggrieved candidates and keeping in view the importance of Skill Development Mission a fraud in this department is likely to cause huge embarrassment to State Government in coming days.
