Sr health officials take Minister's directives non- seriously

Jammu, Nov 24: Giving dent to directive of Health and Medical Education Minister the committee constituted by Commissioner Secretary to examine the grievance raised by National Health Mission (NHM) employees during 15 days long strike, the committee has been failed to submit its report in time bound mentioned during announcement of the committee.
Sources informed Early Times that just after the commencement of the financial year the Minister had directed to Commissioner Secretary to health department to constitute a committee of senior health officials to address the long pending demands of NHM contractual employees within two months.
"But after lapse of eight month the committee still not submitted its report which shows nonchalant attitude of the said committee for which it has been establish in the month of March", sources said.
Sources said that however, during announcement of the committee the commissioner secretary had declared the five committee members including Additional Secretary, Health, Secretary Technical and Medical Education, Director Health Services, Jammu, Director Health Services, Kashmir and Mission Director, NHM but after lapse of sufficient time the committee even not hold a single meeting in this regards so far.
"The inordinate delay to submit report to Minister concern is doing on part of NHM director who always show reluctance to attend the meeting, called by the committee members, it seems that the mission director indifferent toward their own employees", sources said.
Sources further said that government knows that the employees engaged under NHM scheme is the back bone of health department in state, so that Minister for health took the initiative to redressal their genuine demands but their administration seems not interested.
"In the beginning of this year, the NHM employees sit in protest around 15 days during the period state health department suffer a lot and after the minister assurance if their demands are not consider immediately the employees have no other option without protest and the result will be same happened in beginning of the year and that time officials who is the member of committee will be responsible for that", sources added.
Repeated calls by this Jurno to Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education department Dr. Pawan Kotwal, he was not available for comments.
