Early Times Report

KISHTWAR, Dec 14: In a glaring example of favoritism and nepotism, the Jammu University officials choose to pick simple Post Graduate and freshers over qualified staff in running the Kishtwar University Campus established in 2011.
Sources told Early Times that under well knitted conspiracy the qualified staff was forced to quit after 'pressure' and 'harassment' tactics. University of Jammu has started post graduation course in Information Technology and Geology in Kishtwar University Campus in the year 2011 followed by introduction of PG course in Kashmiri couple of years ago.
Sources said that at first instance the university authorities showed keen interest towards running Kishtwar University Campus and appointed well qualified staff for running the classes. With the change in guard and take over by the incumbent Director Kishtwar University Campus, the highly qualified staff was allegedly harassed for petty things and was ultimately forced to quit the job. This paved the way for unqualified staff who are simply Post Graduate or inexperienced.
"Experienced faculty members including Dr. Bilal, Dr. Kuldeep, M Nisar ul Haq, Aditiya Banotra, Dr. Imtiyaz quit the job following the harassment and misbehavior by the incumbent Director Kishtwar Campus with the salary yet to be paid to them," said sources.
The sources said that beside these several non teaching staff was forced to quit while those in services are being constantly harassed and threatened and the salary of some of them was even put on hold who did not follow his dictate.
Some of the students who met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at Kishtwar Public Darbar raised this issue with her and termed it as an attempt of Director Kishtwar University Campus to play with their careers. They told the CM that simple PG students are teaching them in the University Campus and called upon her to arrange permanent and qualified teaching staff in the University Campus so that the students studying in this university get quality education.
The Director of the Campus was also present in the said public darbar and preferred to maintain silence over the issue of appointment of non qualified staff.
The sources said that as per the UGC Guidelines, the University could appoint only PhD or NET qualified candidates for teaching purpose in the University or the University Campuses, but majority of the appointees in Kishtwar University Campus are neither PhD nor NET qualified and has been given a preference for being close to University Officials, Director Kishtwar Campus or to the power corridors.
Meanwhile, the students have urged Chancellor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to take note of ongoing wrong doings in Kishtwar University Campus by giving justice to the deserving poor and qualified unemployed youths of the state by revoking the order of appointment of non qualified teaching staff in Kishtwar University Campus.
