Under pressure from within, BJP unlikely to call off alliance with PDP
2/12/2018 11:09:45 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 12: Constantly under pressure from within for snapping alliance with PDP, the BJP is unlikely to take the extreme step. The party has been increasingly under pressure to snap ties especially after filing of FIR against the army officer and then shouting of Pakistan Zindabad slogans by the National Conference MLA with BJP not making serious effort to get him sacked.
"The statement of Ashok Khajuria can damage the party , but the high command is unlikely to snap the ties, we have got serious calculations here and have long term strategy to stay here so we are not going to back off at this moment," said senior leadership of the party high command.
The sources said that Ashok Khajuria has expressed the sentiment of the core constituency of the BJP which feels sidelined and also is of the view that party has severely compromised its ideology.
"Here is the party whose leaders gave life for ending entry system in the State and now the same party is sitting in an Assembly where pro-Pak slogans are being shouted and BJP is acting as a mute spectator. This couldn't have been imagined and this could damage the party," said the senior party leader.
The sources said the BJP high command is likely to call Ashok Khajuria and counsel him and could ask him to tone down his attack on the party.
"We knew such things will happen and what Ashok Khajuria has said is not shocking. The party has to face such music if it wants to be in power in Jammu and Kashmir . We know some of our constituents will be hugely hurt but we have to compromise some time for our bigger objective of getting power on our own," said the senior party leader.
