Militant's escape from hospital: 5 remanded to 7 days police custody

Jammu, Feb 16: National Investigation Agency today produced five persons arrested by J&K Police for their alleged involvement in the escape of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Naveed Jatt from police custody during a recent shootout here in the Court of Special Judge NIA J&K Jammu.
Special Judge NIA J&K Jammu Haq Nawaz Zargar after considering the remand application of NIA, granted seven days police remand of Accused namely Mohd. Tika Khan S/O Abdul Khan R/O Singoo, Narbal, Kakapora, Pulwama, Shakeel Ahmed Bhat S/O Mohd. Ramzan Bhat R/O Lelhar Kakapora, Pulwama, Syed Tajamul S/O Syed Mohd Syed R/O Pahoo, Kakapora, Pulwama, Mohd Shafi Wani S/O Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani R/O Singoo Narbal, Kakapora, Pulwama and Jan Mohd. Ganie S/O Ganie S/O Ghulam Hassan Ganie R/O Kaisreegam, Kakapora, Pulwama.
Court observed that Rakesh Sharma, SP, CIO NIA has prayed for 10 days police remand for investigation, which is at the initial stage and accused are required to be interrogated thoroughly to unravel the criminal conspiracy whereby accused persons have killed two police men and facilitated the escape of accused Naved Jatt in the shoot out in SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
Court after considering the application observed that presently, the above named accused are on transit remand with NIA upto 17.02.2018 and have been subjected to medical check up at Police Hospital Jammu.
Court further observed that in view the facts and circumstances of the present case, stage of investigation and nature of offences involved in the case, this application is allowed and the accused persons are remanded to police custody for a period 07 days from today i.e. upto 22nd February 2018.
