Give Mehbooba peace and she will explore possibility of bilateral talks
2/20/2018 9:23:59 PM
Are the youth in Kashmir ready for listening to the sane suggestions from Chief Minister,Mehbooba Mufti, who has called upon those youth to shun violence ? As long as Pakistan and separatists are interested in triggering violence the Kashmiri youth may not be prepared to listen to any sane suggestion. And if the youth in Kashmir shun violence it is sure to restore peace to the state and thereby discourage Pakistan as for as its role in kicking up incidents of violence are concerned. And Pakistan does not want peace to be restored to Kashmir and once peace returned to Kashmir Pakistan will have no plea for raising the Kashmir issue in the global fora. But as head of the state, Mehbooba Mufti, has asked youth to shun violence so that she could pursue her policy of development and peace and ensure dialogue over Kashmir. But the way even the mainstream political leaders besides the separatists mislead people peace may elude the state and that could be the reason for Mehbooba for giving up her plan of resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan.Well it is not an easy task for her to ensure resumption of talks between India and Pakistan and that too on the future of the Kashmir valley. Why it is difficult for Mehbooba to campaign for the resumption of bilateral talks ? The question is simple. So far Pakistan is unwilling to fulfill several conditions imposed by India for the reopening of channels of dialogue, mainly telling Islamabad to stop exporting terror to India,India may not be prepared to start talks.
Appealing people to maintain peace so that she can take her agenda of dialogue and reconciliation to higher levels of fulfilment, Mehbooba termed peace imperative for taking Jammu & Kashmir out of uncertainties. The Chief Minister appealed to people to play their role in maintaining peace so that "the process of dialogue and reconciliation is carried forward, more routes across LoC in the State are opened and people on the both sides of the divide march together on the path of growth and progress."Give me peace. I will persue dialogue, opening of routes like Kargil-Skardu, Jammu-Sialkote, Nowshehra-Jhangar . If there is peace I wish people on both sides would march together on the path of growth and development", she has said . Mehbooba Mufti said the agenda of her Government has been to take people of the State out of the mess of violence, initiation of consultative process to sort out issues and develop Jammu & Kashmir as a modern State of the country. Some movement on this agenda has been made, she said, and many decisions of huge public welfare like withdrawal of cases against around 10 thousand youth, regularization of 61 thousand daily wagers, a massive economic and reconstruction plan etc were initiated by her Government during the last three years.
Chief Minister said the situation across the borders in the State is not encouraging with deaths and destruction being reported so frequently that there is a demand for construction of bunkers from the villagers. "This is unfortunate.
In 21st century when they should be demanding better schools, good hospitals and efficient services they are asking for bunkers to protect themselves", she said adding the people of the State continue to bear the brunt of partition and acrimony between India and Pakistan. If Chief Minister feels pained she is justified because of the impact of violence on common people and the entire development process has been affected by violence. She is right when she says that common people are victim of this disturbing security scenario.
Again she is right when she says that trade, tourism, education and industrial sector have suffered because of violence. And the youth in Kashmir is intelligent but they seem to be imposing self afflicting pain upon themselves.
To her dialogue is the only way out of the current mess but Pakistan, feigning willingness for starting talks with India is actually interested in triggering violence which its Army do by resorting to ceasefire violations killing people and security personnel. Hence instead of demanding better schools, health care, job avenues people have been demanding bubkers where they could secure safety against Pak gunners.
