Early Times Report

BASOHLI, Feb 20: Students coming from the far-flung areas of Basohli are not able to get hostel facilities in Basohli Degree college and students are forced to live in expensive rented houses, They have to come to college from their homes and in such cases, the children of poor families are not get expensive rooms
Most of the time of the students gets wasted on cooking the meals and washing clothes. There is not enough time to study in this situation. If the hostel has facilities in the Basohli Degree college, students will get enough time to study. Moreover, there is a waste of time in the journey.
Students say that they come here from the remote areas to get education, but there is a shortage of hostels in the form of education. Students from the rural areas of Basohli Degree College told Early Times that the degree college Basohli has been functional for 10 years, but the construction of the hostel has not been completed.
Since the establishment of college at Basohli on 2005 the students have been requesting the college authorities and local representative (MLA) of Basohli to create hostel facility for them but their plea has not been taken seriously. Every day students travel from hilly and remote areas for two hours and get back home in the late evening hours.
Because of the four-hour journey students are facing difficulties in studying. Students of the remote areas of Basohli where not even the road facilities are available come on foot from their homes to hilly location. Sometimes they miss the transport and get stuck for four hours to come and four go back to home. Students said that due to non-availability of hostel facility, they are facing many problems. During the rains when transportation is not available they fail to reach home. Their parents remain worried and under such circumstances some girls have left their studies. In this way, their studies are getting affected very much. Students have asked the government to build the hostel as soon as possible so that their education is not affected. Realizing these hard facts, the state government should sanction funds for the hostel building for Basohli Degree college.
