Jammu, Feb 21: It may perhaps not be wrong to say that the State government seems least interested in giving empathetic acceptance to the agitators of 2008 land row in Jammu, who are facing various charges since 2008.
Even when the state government showed concerns for stone pelters in Kashmir and granted amnesty to over 4500 'first time offenders of stone pelting' and moreover proposed to provide same to the second timers as well, but they showed no interest in taking care of the youth who had been booked during 2008 Amarnath land row.
The state government did not budge even after the interference of MoS in Prime Minister Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh, who reportedly raised this issue at various platforms.
Not only this, the State government also did not provide any ear to special interlocutor- Dineshwar Sharma who had also assured necessary action in this regard. He, during interaction with media had said "I have spoken to the concerned authorities and asked for the details of cases against the youth in Jammu. I have assured them that I will take necessary action."
The Coordination Committee of BJP and RSS had also stressed on the withdrawal of cases against 2008 Amarnath land row agitators.
During meeting it was demanded that the cases registered against some people of Jammu in land row agitation should be withdrawn at once so that they are not harassed by police and other investigating agencies.
Even after the lapse of nine years these cases have not been withdrawn by Government, though the same was promised by the then Government with Sangarsh Samiti leaders who spearheaded the land row agitation in 2008.
Pertinent to mention that in 2008, there were counter-protests in Jammu over the allotment of 800 kanals of forest land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB). Senior police officer had admitted that various young men from across the Jammu were booked for protesting during the land row.
