Retired Police Pensioners stage protest over pay anomaly

Jammu, Jan 5: Jammu and Kashmir Retired Police Pensioners under the leadership of Ajit Singh today staged a protest demonstration against Pay Anomaly, accusing government of discrimination.
As per State gradation, Police ranking is at number 5, whereas, looking at their duty hours, which is 24 hours and the sacrifices given by them, they should be ranked as No.1.
Thousands of Police Jawans have sacrificed their lives for the country. They should be paid regards at least by ranking them No 1 in the list of State gradation. They said that Govt Order No. 229 - F of 2014 dated 17-10-2014 regarding pay anomaly, the effect of which is given prospectively, means from the date of order. Whereas, the effect should have been given from the year 1996 when 5th pay commission was implemented throughout the State but only Police Deptt was left out.
Various Pay Anomaly committees have been formed and they have given their opinions and approvals from time to time. The first pay anomaly committee was formed in the year Oct 2009, based on its recommendations, orders were issued vide GD No. 2% F dated 21'' Dec, 2010 for removal of pay anomaly.
The second committee was constituted on 15th Sept 2011, Govt revived pay anomaly committee vide order No. 67-GAD of 2012 dated January, 2012 to once again look into the pay anomaly.
Now, for the third time, again 21st April, 2016, G.O. No. 420 GAD of 2016 is formed to look into pay anomaly. "We would like to mention here that like two previous occasions of committees, this third committee should not be time killing. As such we went to know the time frame, since this it lingering on from last 20 years," protesters threatened.
The Finance department sought clarification from the Director General of Police regarding the pay anomalies to retiree ASIs and H/cS. The office of the Director General of Police informed about the amount 5.93.25000.00 vide office letter No. Est-G-21 /2014/10-03-14-15. Dated 17/2/2016 addressed to Principal Secretary Home Deptt J&K. Jammu. The said amount may very kindly be released in favour of retired ASIs and H/cS. Cashless health care policy shall be provided to the retired police personnel oil the pattern of Army and other paramilitary forces. In recruitment of Police Departments and Professional courses 15% quota should be reserved for the Police personnel. They appealed the Chief Minister for release of Hardship Allowances which were announced during Amarnath Yatra.
