Grameen Bank conducts VLPs in Samba, Kathua

Jammu, Mar 19: J&K Grameen Bank, Regional Office: Kathua with support under FIF (Financial Inclusion Fund) of NABARD organized 30 VLPs i.e Village Level Programme (12 in Samba and 18 in Kathua District) today in rural and semi-urban branches.
The main focus of the camp/s was/were to have interaction with SHG members advising them the procedures for maintaining their books, sanctioning of their loans, issuance of cheque books and other payment issues. Various norms devised for SHG loans were also discussed by the branches wherever applicable. Apart from the above, thrust was made for opening of PM3DY accounts on a large scale to give vide coverage to these flagship schemes of GOI. So much so the gatherings were made abreast about various micro insurance, micro pension / livelihood schemes etc and how they can be helpful in ameliorating there lot viz a viz improving their economic standards. As part of our customer-centric approach, our staff has aligned them better with the evolving customer needs so that the GOI initiatives on a shift to cashless economy are achieved were also discussed during such camps.
Apart from maximum participation from SHG and NRLM customers. Students, reputed persons of the area Panch, Sarpanch, Numberdaar, youth, men and women also participated and there was a vide response from them. On spot around 400 PMJDY accounts were opened during the camps by different branches and 40-50 SHGs were linked with the bank for credit under second dose.
As a part of digital banking adoption in the banks such as Internet banking, Mobile banking, various payment systems people need not queue up in bank branch and all the facilities can be availed through digital media from home or while on the move were the talk of the camps.
Since Grameen Bank has been able to penetrate in the rural area with use of technology which can be taken care of by mobile handset and its uses were demonstrated to the participants during these camps. Responses from the public / participant are immense and they were keen to acquire this knowledge in changing scenario. All the line Departments were also participated and they shared their experiences and views with the participants. In the end respective Branch Heads of participating branches presented vote of thanks to the guests and participants.
