MJR, SAD delegation call on Dy Chief Minister
4/18/2018 11:13:12 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 18: A combined delegation of MJR-47 and Shiromani Akali Dal (B), Jammu led by S. Jagjeet Singh Sudan (Convener MJR-47) and Jathedar Mahinder Singh, called on Dr. Nirmal K. Singh, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister at his residence yesterday.
Convener MJR-47 and President SAD put forth the issues pertaining to Minority Sikh Community living in the state and urged for his immediate intervention for resolution of the same as community now feels utter neglect and discrimination in every field, particularly in this regime of BJP-PDP coalition Govt.
Citing example it was made very clear that DPs of 1947 who even after lapse of more than seven decades are still not rehabilitated. This is despite the fact that both State Govt as well as Parliament Standing Committee on Home Affairs has given number of recommendations apart from an interim relief of Rs 30 Lacs per DP family against which only Rs 5.5 lacs per family is being paid. Even disbursement of this amount is full of procedural rangels and many families are fed up and have given up hopes to get the same. A Convener MJR-47 has stated that amount being paid hardly comes to Rs 20000 to 30000 per family as the number of claimants in interest have grown to more than 5 to 10 families during the last 70 years. He urged that second installment be released as was assured by Hon'ble Home Minister and MOS in PMO in the meeting in Jammu on 11-9-2017 and the letter no. 31/01/2011-R&SO dated 22-12-2016 stating Rs 5.5 Lacs as full and final compensation be withdrawn forthwith.
It was also impressed that SRO 425 dtd. 10TH Oct. 2017 is highly discriminatory for non-migrants Sikhs and be replaced by another including Sikh community living in the valley for special employment under the PM's package who have suffered most and are living under threat of massacre like one of the Chattisingpura and Mehjoor Nagar in valley. Sikhs are microscopic minority in the state and are facing complete deprivation in getting al facilities including privileges in absence of State Minority Act as is applicable in other states on the country. Till such time an Act is passed by the state, Scholarships, reservations in proportion to the Sikh population be given to the Sikh community.
