Minor's murder triggers protests in Sunderbani

Rajouri, Apr 21: Two real brothers and their two accomplices have been booked by Budhal police in an alleged murder case of minor boy namely Chander Prakash r/o remote Keri village in Rajouri district.
On April 18 over a trivial issue a physical scuffle had taken place between the deceased and Mohd Latief s/o Abdul Gafoor.
As per case FIR, in the late evening hours on the same day all the four identified persons picked up Chander Prakash and thrashed him severely in a nearby forest.
On April 19, Chander developed some complications and was taken to hospital but he died on way to hospital reportedly due to internal injuries.
Earlier on the written complaint of Mohd Latief s/o Abdul Gafoor (injured) police lodged FIR under sections 341/323 RPC against the deceased while in-charge police post refused to entertain the deceased's (Chander Prakash) application, alleged family members.
SSP Rajouri informed that the deceased either had consumed poisonous substance or died due to shock.
A board of doctors was constituted to conduct post mortem and SSP also assured police investigation from every angle and also warned the people not to communalise the issue.
Annoyed over the biased police role, family members, villagers held a mass protest against the police at Khawas and later blocked Jammu-Poonch highway at Sunderbani by keeping the body on the road demanding probe into the alleged murder.
Dr.Shahid Iqbal, DDC along with SSP reached Sunderbani and after giving patient hearing announced either cash relief or job to next to kin of the deceased, action against police post in-charge and registration of FIR under 302 RPC.
SSP also constituted a Special Investigation Team. A murder case (U/S 302 & 109 RPC) was also registered against four persons including Mohd Latief and his brother Mohd Razak, Abdul Ghani Shah and his unidentified son.
SSP, Yougal Manhas said that police has converted inquest investigation into murder case and further investigation is on and no arrest has been made so for. Meanwhile police post in-charge has been sent to DPL, Rajouri for further action.
Reliable sources said that the father of the deceased has refused to cremate Chander Prakash till 1 pm as the police had not registered the murder case.
"The cremation was performed only after a copy of FIR was provided to the family" said a local.
