Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 21: The Jammu lawyers on Saturday explained away their position and stand vis-à-vis India and said that besides being lawyers, they are also responsible citizens of India and it is their fundamental duty to fight out forces inimical to India and those causing threat to Jammu's security and national security.
"It was a real threat to our own life and national security that the J&K HC Bar Association Jammu (JKHCBAJ) took the plunge. It was the recent attack on Army camp at Sunuwan that shook the nation and the society. The JKHCBAJ is not just a body of lawyers; it is also a body of responsible citizens whose duty it is to fight out the break-India forces and ensure the unity and integrity of India," the JKHCBAJ leadership said while explaining away their stand on the ongoing agitation in Jammu against demographic aggression.
The Jammu lawyers further said: "The illegal settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis at strategic locations in Jammu, including Army camps, Railway Station, Airport, bridges, on the Jammu's high hills and along the national highway and the directions of the government to Deputy Commissioners and IGP Jammu to promote demographic changes in Jammu and bovine smuggling subverting the rule of law were, and are, the issues of the state and national import and, hence, it was our duty towards the nation to take up these issues in right earnest".
The JKHCBAJ leadership did stop just here. It attacked its Kashmir counter part and said its counterpart was a constituent of Hurriyat Conference.
"The JKHCBAJ, unlike the Bar Association Srinagar which is a constituent of Hurriyat, is nationalist to the core. The association has been striving hard to defeat all the anti-national forces operating in the state. The association has been taking recourse to all constitutional, peaceful and legal means, including resorting to peaceful agitation, so as to integrate the state of J&K in a progressive manner into the rest of the country".
Clearly, the JKHCBAJ hinted at the possibility of restarting the movement taking recourse to methods permitted by law.
