NPP alone raked up cause of Jammu region in All Party meet: Harsh
5/10/2018 11:08:09 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 10: With as many as 12 National and state level parties participating in the All Party meet held in Srinagar yesterday with Chief Minister in the chair, it is distressing to note that except JKNPP all others chose to disregard the multifarious problems confronting Jammu region, said Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister.
He regretted that none of the parties bothered to rake up any of the issues of Jammu region or to even mention its name with their entire focus on Kashmir and its people. He lamented that even the BJP representatives avoided the burning issues of Jammu and chose to strictly go by the PDP's agenda thereby belying once again the aspirations of not only the general masses but their own party workers as well.
Not only the BJP avoided discussing the concerns of Jammu but its President Sat Sharma categorically stated that All Party meet headed by CM was not the forum for raising issues of Jammu. With various participating parties including PDP, NC, BJP, Congress, CPI, CPM, DPN, PDF, Janta Dal, Peoples Conference, AIP and Independents concentrating on Kashmir centric issues, the responsibility of representing Jammu region was solely assumed by NPP and which was executed with all ferocity and sincerity, said Singh.
He was addressing a press conference in Jammu after his arrival from Srinagar where he alongwith Balwant Singh Mankotia State President was given a rousing reception by party workers and supporters.
Accusing the govt of perpetuating bias against Jammu region, Singh said that Dogra land had not only been widely discriminated in the present regime but subjected to most contemptuous treatment and worst humiliation. "Why have you opposed the demand of CBI probe in Rasana case so vociferously raised by the people of Jammu? "What exactly do you want?" Harsh repeatedly questioned Mehbooba during the meet.
"And how is it that people of Jammu come to be dubbed as pro rapists and communal for seeking a CBI probe? Is the CBI communal? Will it grant immunity to the culprits? Has CBI enquiry never been made in the state?" These were the kind of questions posed by him during the meeting, said Harsh. He said that people of Jammu were not fighting for individuals but for justice in the case, and justice to the child victim of Rassana.
"Dubbing them as communal and criminals was unacceptable. How many times shall we have to give proofs of our pluralism, spirit of Accommodation and our brotherhood for which we the people of Jammu are known across the globe?"
Seeking the early deportation of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis besides withdrawal of the nasty order on tribal settlements during the meeting, Singh said that the issue of Jammu region had gone totally unrepresented in the present regime. Balwant Singh Mankotia said that while the anti national forces have got to be curbed with a heavy hand, the victimisation of nationalist and peace loving people of Jammu was intolerable. While the stone-pelters enjoyed immunity the people of Kathua seeking CBI probe were booked under criminal charges.
