5/10/2018 11:16:52 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 10: Gangyal police on Thursday said that it arrested two persons including a middleman and recovered more than 500 licenses from the gun shop at Kaluchack area. Police identified the arrested as Raju Khosla of Bakshi Nagar and Vinod Sharma of Channi Himmat. "A case under FIR no. 41 /18 under sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 419 and 120-B of RPC has been registered at Gangyal police station against them," a police officer said. He said that acting on specific information a team led by Station House officer (SHO), Gangyal-SI Nayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO South DySP Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary raided a gun dealer shop "New Jammu Armoury at Kaluchack" and seized over 500 licenses from there.
"Both the persons including gun dealer and an agent were arrested while the licenses were seized on the spot," said police source adding that there were some fresh licenses while some were old and were prepared from different districts of the state. All the licenses were prepared from different districts. These included some fresh and some old. Sources claimed that some licenses belonged to civilians while some belonged to belt force personnel. If sources are to be believed over 100 guns dealing shop are there in Jammu province and some of them have been rented out which is violation of Arms Act. Most of the persons dealing with sale of guns have procured multiple licenses of gun shops in the name of their family members and they have rented out their gun shops to other persons, said sources.
They claimed that the root cause for fake licenses is subletting of gun shops as the owners have no knowledge about the dealing of the persons who have running these gun shops. Police sources said that in few days police is going to write the concerned Deputy Commissioners from where the licenses were prepared for checking the authenticity of the licenses while further questioning of the arrested is on.
