Early Times Report
udhampur, May 15: The doctors posted in remote areas, especially the areas which are out from the reach of media or any inspecting agency, are free l to loot the poor public .
Recently one such heinous act at a Government hospital in Sunderbani has exposed the greed for money which forced the doctor to mislead the suffering patient.
A male gynaecologist at Government Hospital Sunderbani referred a pregnant lady to SMGS Hospital Jammu for cesarean just two hours before her delivery.
This left the attendants of the patient shocked. They begged of the doctor who then asked them to visit a private nursing home where he same doctor along with one anesthetist operated her @ Rs. 50,000.
Apart from this the doctor also forced the patient to purchase the medicines and get blood and other investigations from his recommended outlets.
The anesthetist too is working at Government Hospital Sunderbani. This is the modus operandi of these doctors to loot poor patients in rural areas.
Sources informed that twin border districts of Rajouri-Poonch are notorious in this regard and the people living there have become used to all such corrupt practices.
It is pertinent to mention here that there are number of schemes at government hospitals to benefit the pregnant ladies but existence of such elements in such hospitals will never let these schemes run successfully as their monetary interests are harmed.
It is another bitter truth that much of the cases even more heinous than the one mentioned here go unreported. Surprisingly there are two cabinet ministers and number of legislators from these twin districts but none has ever bothered to take a cognizance of the poor functioning of health facilities there.
It is pertinent to mention here that in recent cabinet reshuffle the Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat was removed to give chance to Dr Manyal on whom people of Jammu and Kashmir have pinned big hopes.
Balvinder Kumar a local said that the new health minister should take cognizance of the wrong practices being adopted by the doctors of Rajouri and poonch
When contacted DC Rajouri Shahid Iqbal Choudary said that I will look into mater personally and take stric action against them who were playing the life of poor and needy people.
