TB Control Society wastes public money for officers' publicity
Forgets about basic requirements of TB patients
5/17/2018 11:00:20 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 17: Instead of utilizing the services and public money for welfare of patients, the District Tuberculosis Control Society Udhampur has reportedly wasted public money only to pat the back of its officers by using publicity in those mediums-which have no reach in the villages of block Basantgarh.
Instead of doing some ground work, it appears that the District TB Control Society Udhampur is more serious towards the publicity of their officers, associated with the control programme, rather than the patients of TB disease, spread across Basantgarh block.
"Most of the villages didn't read the newspapers and what was the rationale of giving advertisements.
Moreover, if they have made it clear that their doctors would personally visit the villages and would get the details of the TB patients, then why the money was being wasted", an official said.
He further alleged that the whole exercise was only a publicity stunt and the whole exercise of finding patients would be a cosmetic exercise, restricted to papers only. "Now it is amply clear that the doctors are not going to visit the villages and through the medium of advertisements, the District Control Society has implicitly appealed the people, to visit the health centres for their checkup", sources said.
Sources further divulged that by giving such advertisement, the District TB Society Udhampur, has done their job of coming into the notice of concerned Minister and the department officials. "Now the higher officials have got an impression that for May 14 to May 28 the doctors would definitely visit the houses and would collect the details but on ground level, due to one reason or the other including shortage of staff to conduct the survey, unofficially, it is already communicated that a data must be compiled and same would be submitted before the department, for showing the paper work", sources alleged, adding that District Society must concentrate on the ground work, rather than publicity stunt.
