5/20/2018 11:56:03 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 20: During his day long visit to J&K on Saturday, Prime Minister Narindra Modi has refreshed wounds of the residents of Leh and Jammu because he did not mention even a single word about long pending political demands of the people of these two regions who have taken up national tricolour.
People of Leh were expecting that Prime Minister would speak about their long pending demand of granting Union Territory (UT) status but Narindra Modi preferred to focus only on 'Vikas and Vikas' just to divert peoples' attention towards the demand which is going to empower Ladakh people.
During 2014 Parliamentary and assembly elections, BJP had promised to grant UT status to Ladakh. But after attaining power at the Centre and sharing power at J&K, BJP leadership forgot that demand.
At Srinagar touched issue of Ramadan ceasefire to keep PDP leadership and other groups in good humour. He defended his government's decision to announce ceasefire. At Jammu, people were expecting that Prime Minister would make some announcement to end discrimination with Jammu region but he confined his speech only on "Vikas and Vikas" which he has been stating since 2014. The core issues of Jammu region including killings on the borders, problems of refugees were not touched by the Prime Minister. He also appreciated Dogras while calling them as warriors but announced nothing to end discrimination with Dogras.
